Change is scary. It scares the crap out of me. But when those unexpected changes happen I lean on my family and friends to help me get through it. Having a good cry on the phone with a best friend is sometimes the best therapy for me (you know that, haha). But embrasing change is a good way to deal as well. Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes there is a crappy change in your life but it may be a blessing in disguise.

It's cliche, but the serenity prayer helps me. Recognizing the situation, pursuing what I can change and accepting what I cannot. Also, knowing that attitude can change everything — even change. I have this quote on my wall at work, it's from my mom and she's had it somewhere in her office or home for as long as I can remember. It helps me to remember that even when change seems uncontrollable, you can control how you react to it.

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company, a church, a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past, we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent of how I react to it. And so it is with you ... we are in charge of our attitudes.”
- Charles R. Swindoll

[...] I blogged earlier today about change. (with a cheesy picture of some coins, and I’m really sorry for that. I’m trying to get better about including images with my posts, but when you have no photographer instinct, that gets hard–forgive me?) [...]
